When your child is in kindergarten and has to learn how to write, he or she will be introduced to a writing worksheet. This worksheet consists of ten rows for the different letters of the English alphabet. Your child will place the first letter of the word he is learning on the first row and then continue down the alphabet. So, if your child has to learn the word “pencil” he would start on the second line, and “brush” would be on the third line. Once your child has learned all the letters, then you can remove the written word from the worksheet.
Now, let’s say that your child still has not learned the first three letters of the alphabet. Instead of removing the letter r from his or her writing worksheet, you can just remove the letter c. For example, if your child has to learn the word “apple,” you could just remove the word from the written word and replace it with “a.” This works in pretty much the same way as removing the “r” from the “apple” example. By simply changing the letter c to a different letter, your child will be able to take his or her learning experience to the next level.

Although this option is not exactly “classroom-like” for most children, it can be just as effective. Just like the written word worksheets, your child will be able to have fun with this option. In the process of learning his or her numbers, your child will have the opportunity to practice his or her letters with the rest of his or her classmates. You may find that your child begins to feel comfortable with the Mayan writing alphabet worksheet sooner rather than later. You can also take this option outside the classroom if you prefer.

When searching for your child’s first work in writing, you may want to look for a worksheet that is either graph paper or level paper so that your child will have something to practise his or her handwriting with. Once your youngster has developed a good foundation for their handwriting, you can use the worksheets to introduce fun activities such as adding in new shapes, animals and people to the story. This can also help your youngster get started on the basic skills for reading and recognising the different sounds that are associated with the letters of the alphabet. Again, these types of resources are available online at no cost. You may also want to look at some websites that offer some original and unique drawings for your child to colour. It is also a good idea to look for websites that offer free educational games that your son or daughter can play.
